No, really. Take a guess.

Well, ST of course.

RECS! Because I'm generous and stuff. Also, I feel my life is more complete after having read this stuff, which means I'm likely to smile more often simply by remembering bits and ends. Now, assume one of this memories jumps on the passenger seat while I'm walking down the street, assume now that the inevitable smile that takes over my face, somehow, gets passed on to somebody else and, for a little while at least, their day is that tad bit brighter.  Isn't that a nice assumption?

MY OBSESSIVE ST FIC READING COMES FROM ENTIRELY ALTRUISTIC PURPOSES. I'M MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE READING ABOUT JIM KIRK'S CREW HIJINKING IT IN SPACE.

Y'all bow to me, now.

The following are PG, so, safe for everyone and their dogs.

Only the Good Die Young by [livejournal.com profile] _seven_crows  Chekov being adorable. Also, Kirk makes sound effects, there are discussions about naked singularities, Spock takes on responsibilities that may not be quite as suited to him as originally thought. Much fun is had by all. Unless you're Chekov.

Four Consequences of the Unexpected and Unlikely Friendship Between James T. Kirk and Nyota Uhura
by[livejournal.com profile] trisfic  Laugh. Out. Loud. And then some. It is slightly terrifying because, zomg should this two ever become this awesomely BFFs the galaxy should tremble. There's some poetry involved, as well.

The Enterprise: of Warp Barriers, Captains, and Other Scary Things by [livejournal.com profile] karanguni  some more Chekov being generally awesome, and Kirk being all-around trouble. Also featuring Spock figuring stuff out in a heart beat and being appropriately stoic about it.

A Fucking Space Opera (or Six Characters Who Didn't Board The USS Enterprise)
by [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis  Fandoms crossover ahoy! Sam and Dean are in it too.

Captain Awesome and His Amazing Enterprise by [livejournal.com profile] vaingirlfic  they are in a rock band. High School AU but that's not the point, the point is: THEY ARE IN A BAND. Surprisingly? not as cracky as the premise suggests. Still, tremendously hilarious because, get this, they are in a band.

People Who Repair Quantums, or Five Planets the Enterprise Never Visited by [livejournal.com profile] ignipes  This one is possibly my favorite so far. Every single piece is perfect and also? it features fandoms that I've been known to fangirl pretty hardcore. Kind of taylor-made, if you will.

Um. This is it. For now. I have to go categorize and track down put in one single place all the others I want the world to see (again, most likely). If you've already read these ones, well then go read again because they are just. That. Good.

So. I was, um, bullied into joining this sort of contest where there'll be no winners (or something) and I have to submit three pieces of fiction. One has to be old, another new and a third one something written the day of the submission itself, as in there'll be someone watching you write it. Oh pressure, how overrated you are.

Anyway, I'm working on the new piece, and am already deciding what the third is not gonna be about. It's the old one that has me a ragged mess of doubt. I have these few pieces that I love with all of my heart but some of them are too personal for me to share, others have already been shared and I believe it is against the non-contest rules to submit something you've already sent out to another contest (where there were actual prices. And less ridiculous rules), clearly this leaves me with very few options, of which the really attractive one is this RPF thingy I wrote a while back, and it is truly and sincerely loved. There's something about that story.

Which is where you guys come in (PLEASE, DO COME IN), because I'm asking your help with it. What do you think about it? Should I make arrangements? Is it contest material?

It's mustang horses, champagne glasses and this is the last thing I've written that got posted, so it's been opinioned on by other people already, but I'm still sort of on the fence about it, mostly because it never got beta-ed and so, (further) third party view may be required before it's set free onto the world.

::is insecure:: Will you help a poor little soul out?

Been feeling odd, lately. As if I had this well inside my head, this pit of ideas waving and revolting around, making themselves known, making me stop and stare. And then I grab my legal pad and... they're gone. I wanna write and, apparently I can, the ideas are there which is sort of fundamental for the craft, I think, but I don't seem to have the drive. Or something.

I'm intimidated by a legal pad.

Don't even wanna bother with the laptop.

But, this is a happy day because I am convinced that leaves are falling! Finally!

So, back to the original reason for this post (when in doubt, always ask your flist), does this lack of drive, as I have christened it, happen to you? If so, how do you handle it? Advices?

::is back from the dead:: Man, this is what zombies must feel like, except I'm not particularly hungry for brains, or anything.

  • Point is. I'm home, it was nice to be with the family and have cake and stuff, but I missed being held responsible for my own choices, I missed knowing the routes of public transportation and, oh God, I missed my bed.

  • Wanna know what else I missed? Moussey's deadline. ::cough:: See? I do have the fic written and all; I do not, however, have it in the computer, which, as you can see, would be the obstacle in my way. Ugh, I'm totally one of those folks who have no respect for deadlines and the like, shame on me, dude. But I am also one of those folks who insist on finding the damn bright side on every stupid thing possible, and so, I did find a title (fancy and all) for the fic in the meantime. So, Mousse, focus on that, m'kay?

  • Um, I may have gotten myself into a really tight spot with the Mother's Husband. He insists that I take the commercial road and work my own office, I insist that humanitarian work is my thing and will not be sidetracked, because I'm digging my heels in. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter what I end up doing, since it's really not an area of my life he's ever shown much interest in, until now when I told my mom she was not gonna get much chance to live off of me due to my potential future lack of resources, she's already assumed this fact and has found her peace with it, he has not. Clearly we both have very, very different worldviews and this isn't the first time we butt heads, unfortunately it is the worst fight I've ever gotten into in my life. So. I'm having trouble finding the bright side here. We'll see how it works out in the end.

How're y'all doing?
green_apple: (Default)
Hey y'all! How's it going?.

Well, I'm home (though it's not really home, it's just a house where they make me sleep in an inflatable matress ::pouts::) and, um, heating actually works here and I never thought I'd miss my shitty heater back in my place (where I get a bed) but Jesus, it's smoldering in here! Sorta.

Also, I have recs. I'm awesome, I know.

Apples and Expectations
by [personal profile] pr_scatterbrain. Is an RPF that pairs Jensen with Eva Green. I made noises even though it is thoroughly PG-13. Great voice, lovely style and well, it gives the visual of EG standing next to the Ackles, and um, exactly how do you turn that down?

Cover by [profile] alethialia. It's a M/A with a very snarky Alec (is there any other kind?) and a Max that goes along because really, it's Alec. Anywya, A wrote it so you should, like, go read. Now.

'sup kiddies. Among other things, I've been thinking about how much I love writing, and how much writing is not happening on my end these days. So, here's the deal, I will write you a ficlet/vignette for the fandom of your choice, in exchange for you one-word prompt.

Simple, right? Um, I've written for Supernatural, Dark Angel and Dune in the past, can do so again if you so desire. Am also willing to write in the RPF realm, provided I have some slight grip on the people you want me to tell you about (although I am willing to broaden my horizons, so you can just ask whether I'm not too squeaked/annoyed/in the dark about so and so and I'll tell you if you can expect me to put some effort into it, 'k?)

Um. Since I know y'all're just dying to know what's been going on in my super exciting life: there were some protesters the other day who completely trashed the front window of the coffee shop I work for, resulting in one injured costumer, three damaged chairs, one scratch on my forehead and one very freaked out T. It was not pretty. But at least I get to go home for my b-day since we're closed until T gets his act together (and the city pays for the damages, but that's not as important as the guy who handles the cash).

Since I'm in an impromptu hiatus, I'm offering up my free time for a greater cause. Hello, flist! how's it going?
green_apple: (Default)
I got a job! Yay

I'll be working behind the counter in the morning shift at a coffeeshop. I'm deliriously happy. Finally I'll get a paycheck and all that!

Sadly this will reduce my writing hours a little, but I enjoy a good challenge, so Mousey, before you start hyperventilating, I want you to know that I will not abandon ship!
It's only a half time job so that'll leave me the whole afternoon and most of the night to have a life. Which is where the writing comes in.

OMG I got a job!

So, I'm in the middle of some quality time over the phone with my dad when the bro picks up the other end of the line, bribes (or guilt-trips) dad into hanging up and let Jared have a talk with me, and then goes on and asks me if I, being the girl I am, find Jesse Spencer doable....

I really, really worry about my brother's thinking process, and the subjects he chooses to delve on. Bright reminder of that time when he wanted to know which word did I find more appropriate: dick, or cock. Needless to say, much headdeskery ensued.

Also, fics... a list

I predict a lot bonding between me and this laptop.

Go me!

I landed in Second Place! I can't believe it! Oh sweet baby Jesus, I'm second!

I mean that Arts Contest my university was hosting. I won the Second Place with "The Fingerprints of Rain"

::spins in chair:: I won something!!!!

I win!

::feels like He-Man::

Remember this fic? The one that was that was shamefully title-less?...

Well it no longer is. And I am so ridiculously proud its not even funny!, Specially if we take in consideration the fact that is not such a brain-breaking title to come up with.

But still, I rule.
