head cold + menstruation = grumpy me.
A's drawing skills + a paper airplane = no-longer grumpy me.
This I am grateful for today. A wants to learn to build airplanes, so naturally he excels at making paper airplanes and drawing things, so he decided to change my day a bit by drawing these reversible little faces on a sheet of paper, which he then folded appropriately and sent it flying across the room at me. It said: "it's all a matter of perspective, for example, this side up (frowny, sad faces) they're not very encouraging, now (arrow indicates I should turn the sheet upside down) this side up (sad faces magically become dimpled, smiley faces) they're much nicer, wouldn't you say?
I love my friends.
Yesterday I was inordinately grateful to
robanybody for taking my excited yipping and returning it in kind, plus added pimping of lj activities which involve Alerans and ficcing. Thanks babe!

Date: 8/15/10 00:17 (UTC)Um,you know whom I also love unconditionally? Aria, she's so fiercely uncompromising with her power even Aquitaine recognizes her sheer awesome.
And Doroga, he always has the perfect witty remark on hold, he'll invade in summer, he'll go with Amara even if he didn't please to, he wonders how come the Alerans are such bad neighbors, he's generally awesome with his oddly-adorable Walker and his cudgel and his snark. And I'm sure he checks before eating any soup now.
I love these people so much I can't even! Honestly, I was not expecting to fall so hard for these guys.

Date: 8/15/10 21:32 (UTC)Doroga! I love him so much. And Walker. And Doroga is so amazing. His snarky remarks when he has to mediate juris macto between. um. two people that I cannot tell you about since it will be spoilery. but anyway! I love his sarcasm and his brilliance and his quiet amusement and how he worries about Kitai because even though she can take care of herself, she is still his daughter and he doesn't want her to get hurt.
God, I know how you feel. After I blew through the first book, I kept going, "Dammit, I wasn't supposed to love the this much!" Butcher got me again. :O

Date: 8/16/10 13:14 (UTC)Oh Doroga, I was kind of torn there because, should I be worried about the outcome of the duel? Or should I just sit back and laugh at Doroga's insightful snark? Decisions, decisions. In the end Isana's death was simply greatly exaggerated. Just like Ehren dying on the wall (breaking my heart in the process, naturally) and then getting better.
I feel like Supernatural has trained me for this aline-no alive fluidity.
Hahaha, I was all set to read it merely for the fantasy!casting factor, and possibly a smidgen of curiosity over the premise itself, but then, few pages in, I'm falling so hard for Amara (and Tavi and Bernard and Isana, and Odiana and and and) that yeah, my honorable intentions were but a dot in the distant past.
