How much do I love that since it's sunday my neighbors have foregone all sense of propriety and have been blasting some admittedly high quality rock music since about 5.30 in the morning?

I've been up since four, so I'm cool with this, but imagine if I were sleeping peacefully and suddenly there's this guitar riff interrupting my bliss?. I would not be down with that, I presume.

zomg they're playing Incubus rightthissecond! I haven't listened to them gods in so long... maybe I'll send a fruit basket around at some point.

but imagine if I were sleeping peacefully and suddenly there's this guitar riff interrupting my bliss? this has happened to me too many times! I used to have an upstairs neighbour who blasted rock music at 2am - AC/DC, and don't get me wrong, AC?DC's not bad & gave me fond memories of Supernatural - but not at 2AM

which is to say, I'm glad your neighbours have good taste in music *and* that you were already awake to enjoy it :)

Wow, 2am, that's gotta suck on some metaphysical level as well. I feel like it's some sort of comment on how we just fuck civilization and go for the base instinct more often then it's altogether healthy. 2. A. M. This is like one of those astronomical figures I can't imagine because the amount of zeroes on the right is just far too large. 2 in the effing am.

Right? I think they were really wasted, given the hour and the fact that I actually liked the music, as opposed to the type that blasts every. single. afternoon. Which is to say, these neighbors are not the same as those neighbors.

the thing about the 2am was I started to think maybe she or her boyfriend worked shift-work, because it would blast for all of one song, at 2am. But you know, if you can wake up your downstairs neighbour with AC/DC so loud she can hear every word, perhaps your alarm is too loud. Just maybe. This year I have a downstairs neighbour who is also found of 2am (he plays The Police instead) but I think I managed to chastize him.

the problem with loud music in the afternoon is that it can be just as annoying but generally it's harder to legitimately complain about it

Just maybe.
Food for thought. That's why I use my cellphone, it's loud enough to wake me up but no so that it can be heard outside the apartment. This way I don't feel guilty when I'm so deeply knocked out that I do not hear it go off.

I think I managed to chastize him.
Go you, sister!

Exactly. Also, I've found it's even louder because there would be no legitimacy to potential complaints. Which is why headphones are a blessing.

HI JO!

5.30 in the morning is rude and disrespectful. No one should do that. That's the kind of thing you should wait until maybe 7.30.

Hahahaha, we live next to a school yard and so, really, 7.30 it's already noisy enough if you consider the early birds that always try to get in a soccer match before class.

Also, they get to get away with it because it's Sunday morning and the rest of us have no basis to call the security guard to come over and politely glower at them until they turn it down. Besides, I supposed if you were sleeping with the windows closed and also happen to be used to the screaming kids every morning of your week, this would not have disrupted your sleep/bothered you all that much.

Still though.

Hey, how was your trip? Did I miss the post where you said?
