In today's disturbing news, I've learned that the Fringe fandom has a very deep dislike of Alt!Olivia. Which baffles, because if anything, she's the living proof that Olivia is a badass in any and all universes.

So I guess it's a good thing I'm not actually active in this particular portion of the internet experience, do not need the trouble.

I happen to &hearts Alt!Olivia with her nascent moral quandaries and her ability to stick to the job even though it's kind of obvious there's a bond in the making with Peter and maybe even, to some extent, with Walter himself. Also, she can fake photographic memory, so, you know.

I'll sit here waiting for the blow-up after Olivia rescues her own awesome self and comes back to our universe and then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Epic stuff is bound to happen.

Wow, news to me too! I second what you said.

Epic stuff is definitely right around the corner.

I guess I should have guessed some people weren't going to be happy with this plot
line, but I was kind of busy loving it, so.

It's already happening!

I don't follow Fringe fandom at all, but I have to agree with them: I loathe Alt!Olivia. I'm really disliking all the episodes on this side, which is really shocking because I was SURE I was going to hate Olivia being trapped over in the alternate reality. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the episodes over there and tend to dislike the ones over here. I think it's just really hard to watch all the characters I like be manipulated in such a cruel way.

But that being said, even though I dislike the character, I like how they're using her. I know alt!Olivia is written the way she is for a reason and I think it would be totally unrealistic if she came over and suddenly developed ~feelings~, but her treachery just makes it so hard for me to like her. And I want to.

(But I get not liking the status quo. I have a funny feeling I would be run out of town for my intense like of Lincoln/Olivia. LOVE IT.)

Hahaha, me neither, I just happened upon a post somewhere on Tumblr. I think what saves the episodes set Over Here for me is the fact that Astrid's been getting more screen time and her relationship with Walter is being explored/deepened, which is always a plus with me. As far as Alt!Olivia goes, I like the concept and the execution, I just wouldn't bother with entire episodes of her story because I'm not really all that invested in her and, while I appreciate how focused she is in her mission, I can't wait for her to go back home or get thwarted somehow because it's really taken her too long to come around the moral implications of what she's been ordered to do. Military types bug me.

And Olivia in the Alt!Universe is thoroughly rocking my socks. She's going to save herself, as usual, and she's still our Olivia even though she now has to haggle with a whole new set of memories and relations and stuff, even then she remains equally guided by her own principles, she's still a workaholic and she's still empathetic and maybe I'm working under a double standard here, but where Alt!Olivia's attitudes bother me, our Olivia's character resilience is a feast.

but her treachery just makes it so hard for me to like her.
Same here, the thing is, on that post I read, this treachery was not in terms of the whole team, not even in terms of Peter alone, but in terms of how this impostor had come along to wreck Peter/Olivia and even went to bed with him despite having her bf back home and all. And I'm thinking yes, you have a point, but then again, if Peter has allowed himself to miss the little clues, and when he catches them he rationalizes them away, then maybe he still has a way to go before he and Olivia can have an honest go, y'know?

(hehehe, I keep secretly shipping Charlie/Olivia. I love how Lincoln was so disappointed when he found Olivia dressed when she was behind the curtain in that hospital scene, so I get where you're coming from. I will miss these three and their dynamic when Olivia comes back)

Wow, long reply got LONG.
