Dear N. K. Jemisin:

I am totally not parallel-thinking Wanahomen's and Hanani's story as a Zutara au. I am not. No matter what my brain says. I am also not forgiving you for pushing every single one of my narrative buttons on a regular basis

Srsly tho, reading this lady's books is like getting a double of dose of bulletproof kinks straight to the brain. Wrapped up in EVEN AWESOMER THAN I EVER IMAGINED.

Two days ago I wasn't really all that into the dreamblood duology (as in, the story/plot/world-building are excellent with a side of ♥ _ ♥ bathed in gorgeous prose sauce. The folk in the first book were really lovely and perfectly developed and I wanted them all to have their happy endings and wound up being so thoroughly emotionally satisfied with how things turned out even if the 'happy ending' status of it is highly questionable in most cases. The characters in the second book, however, had to work to get me to warm up to them for reasons I still haven't figured out, but once they did, well, ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS, because again I want them all (except this one dude) to get their happy endings, the real clincher here is that I'm not sure what that happy ending will be like, because they have grown and evolved and interlaced their individual narratives and the stakes are really bloody high and I just know that whatever their places wind up being, when all's said and done, I'll be equally emotionally/narratively satisfied  as I was with The Killing Moon), and then BAM, stuff happens that ups my investment by like a zillion times and suddenly my free time is nowhere near enough to mainline things as a properly engrossed person would.

This is the state of affairs on my end, these days. Also, a number of beloved fics have updated and I haven't been able to get to them because Jemisin and my emotions won't let me.

(Wana and Hanani's collective situation is totally Zutarable, tho. I stand by this)
(also also also, apologies for the potential nonsensical quality of this here post. It's early and I'm high on feels)

And so I'm breaking my weeks-long lj silence (which has been happening for reasons that involve a lot of bad judgement and the consequential poor decision-making, and this is as far as we're going with this story) to link to this right here video because it has The Coulbs speaking in French and laughing her awesome laugh, and Adetomiwa Edun also speaking in French and putting impure thoughts into my head (okay, it doesn't take much for that to happen, but it's still noteworthy).

Other things:

~My foot is still a bit swollen and this is, naturally, infinitely vexing.

~My brother decided to spend the money he'd been saving for a transatlantic flight in visiting family members who aren't his sisters, which resulted in a loud silences over the phone line the last time he called. We're still being very quiet in each other's direction.

~The weather boasts a lovely 28° F today, thus going a long way to making it up to me (yes, personally) for the fact that it's Monday.

~The sister's b-day's on Friday, so on Thursday I'm hauling my ass over to have cake and take pictures and hug my family. There is joy all over my face, you guys!

green_apple: (bound to catch the heavens if they fall)
Jesus, you guys seen those recent pics of Angel? The ones where she's impossibly beautiful? I mean, like, MORE GORGEOUS than usual.

Yes, they are my happy place.

like, say, these ones )

Good morning, flist!

This time with actual self-restraint. Kinda )

Uh, gotta run now, but I still have thoughts on Morgana (whom I think was actually sympathetic here), Morgause  and what didn't quite work for me when I get back. Besides, this is long enough already... ::headdesk::

ETA: I have decided that I'm not eloquent enough to articulate my feelings about Morgana and so I'll point you in the direction of [livejournal.com profile] selenak's reaction post in which she says everything I wanted to say with 100% less rambly incoherence and 110% more accuracy than I could ever manage.

green_apple: (our last day as children)
I'm thinking I'll wait until next week before passing full judgment on this one. Then again, I might just blab about it now tomorrow. Either way IT NEEDS MOAR GWEN (this is not a spoiler because, as you know, even the Gwen heavy episodes need more Gwen, imho), though she did rock it pretty hard when she was on, so hard in fact, I may be feeling a wee bit sad for Morgana and may actually kind of possibly better understand her sudden desire for the crown.

So there's that.

Overall it was a good (ish. As in, I like some of the stuff that happened) episode. I'm just not sure I'm sold on it being a Finale Episode, you know? Hence the waiting until the actual finale comes along. Ugh two-parters, you annoy me so.

Ok, first off, happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] eldritchhobbit *\o/* hope you have a wonderful time and get many Virginia-kisses &hearts

Crunchy peanut butter is the best ting since sliced bread. Crunchy peanut butter AND sliced bread is most definitely the Official Meal in my personal Ultimate Utopia.

Now, there's this flirting flowchart I found in Tumblr, naturally, which sums up my style pretty accurately.

Um, since I'm apparently rather fond of having my sexual orientation questioned, I've been sort of ogling studying the effect Angel Coulby has on me. Results have been interesting.

especially when she looks like this )

or when she does this )

Um, today's the last day of school for my kids before holidays/summer break. Which means that I'll be saying goodbye to this particular group. I'll miss their poorly aimed puke and their under-baked cupcakes. Also their drawings of my face surrounded by flowers and their cute little competitions to see who got the bright sticker of the day. ;_; Mah babies are growin'

[livejournal.com profile] robanybody babe, I'm sending good, healthful vibes your way today ::sends vibes:: Hope you get better soon and your body remembers who the hell is BOSS.

Stuff which I feel like sharing with you today.

Say, these quests are so high on the Second Hand Embarrassment Scale for me, but this one is actually kind of cute. Bradly is his usually ridiculous self with the humming and the forgetting names and the GIVING GWEN'S LAST NAME and the remembering names at the last moment. And Colin's FACE, you guise ♥ _ ♥

Bradly James. Subject: Merlin )

Still on Merlin you could at least try to look mildly shocked, people, there's some meta here by [livejournal.com profile] selenak that articulates, rather nicely, the reasons why my idea of Morgana always differed so greatly from that of general fandom.

Further on Morgana, [livejournal.com profile] zahrawithaz posits the reasons why Merlin telling her about his magic might not be the All-Mighty Fix-It-All some of us tend to think it would have been. I agree. Also check out her meta on privilege and power which is linked to at the beginning of the entry. Actually check out everything in that journal, yeah?

Still on the meta front, obligatory River/Eleven Feminist Manifesto, which lays down every single reason why River Song is a poem written for my particular brand of feminism.

Intelligent Design is a vid wherein there is no meta, per se, but there is Olivia Dunham shamelessly kicking ass and taking names. Which is a bit meta-y in and of itself. I would also recommend you check out [livejournal.com profile] beccatoria's other entries on Fringe as they are meta-tastic and very well justified. Also she ships Peter/Alt!Olivia which I didn't think I did until she explained to me why I didn't think I did.

Sorry, the only pic of pretty for today will have to be this nebula which reminds me of why I fangirl the universe in such a hardcore way.
APOD-NGC 6357 )

Have a nice day, my loves!

In today's disturbing news, I've learned that the Fringe fandom has a very deep dislike of Alt!Olivia. Which baffles, because if anything, she's the living proof that Olivia is a badass in any and all universes.

So I guess it's a good thing I'm not actually active in this particular portion of the internet experience, do not need the trouble.

I happen to &hearts Alt!Olivia with her nascent moral quandaries and her ability to stick to the job even though it's kind of obvious there's a bond in the making with Peter and maybe even, to some extent, with Walter himself. Also, she can fake photographic memory, so, you know.

I'll sit here waiting for the blow-up after Olivia rescues her own awesome self and comes back to our universe and then ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. Epic stuff is bound to happen.

AKA the one that made my week be okay.

First off, this woman is a goddess

Queen Guinevere of Camlelot )

::sigh:: one day I'll be able to make one of these and NOT make it into a TESTAMENT. One day.

OMG, MERLIN CAN HAS PROMO PICS.

Please, I advise caution when viewing this, there are scientific studies conducted by me on significant sample groups (me) that prove, without a doubt, the brain melting effect Bradley's chest hair and Angel's lips have on all those exposed to them for any length of time. Plus, here be manly pouts and tiny flowers in beautiful, curly hair.

Future Mr and Mrs GQMF Pendragon )

Clearly these two need to reproduce ASAP. And I need more coffee and possibly some fresh air if I ever want to regain proper higher brain functions.

Carry on, then.
